Aquaponics is an environmentally friendly food production technology that couples aquaculture (e.g. production of fish) and horticulture as hydroponics (e.g. production of vegetables) in one system. the nutrientrich water from the fish unit is used as fertiliser for hydroponically grown crops and so reduces the sewage of the fish unit as well.. Aquaponics – the new technology of farming in ghana. as part of our research to look at the participation of the youth especially students in the senior high level whom are yet to go to the university and their interest in pursuing agriculture course as a major. the team decided to pay a visit to the golden sunbeam international college of science. The practice of aquaponic farming is not a new technology, it dates back to the aztecs, but recently it has has been re-discovered. aquaponic farming combines the techniques of aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics (plants grown in water) to create the most sustainable food production system on earth..
